Costco Mobile App Review

    

Today I decided to write a review of the Costco mobile app. Using the app is extremely easy. All of the menus are simple to navigate, and clearly displayed. The functionality of the app is excellent. I have been using the app for several years and have never had a problem with it functioning properly. As I said before the app is extremely useful because it can be used to order items through the mail, submit new prescriptions, make appointments for the vision center and be used as a membership card so you don’t have to physically carry a Costco card with you. The app has a locator that will locate the nearest Costco warehouse to your position, but you must enable location sharing with the app to do so. The app also has a section that contains savings, or special member only sales, price reductions and gas price information for the closest warehouse.

     Overall the Costco app is one of the easiest shopping apps that I have used. Some apps are very cluttered, or hard to navigate. The Costco app breaks everything down into different sections and the search function works well. Aside from not being able to get gas utilizing the membership card on the phone, it is very convenient to not have to grab my wallet and search for a card to enter.

    The app is very well constructed and functional but there are several improvements that could be made. The first of which is the ability to change the colors of the app for color blind people.  Most of the app and menus on several pages is blue and blue is one of the colors that is hard for colorblind individuals to distinguish. The second suggestion is to allow members to see the in warehouse price when shopping on the app. The prices displayed are only for delivery. There is a note that says prices may be cheaper in warehouse, so I don’t understand why they just don’t show the price in the nearest warehouse. One last suggestion would be to allow the app to be used at the gas pumps. As of now using a physical Costco card is the only way to access the pumps. Using the app would be far more convenient.
